Cryptocurrency scammers took over the official Microsoft India account on Twitter, which has over 211,000 followers, and used it to mimic the character of Roaring Kitty, the username of infamous parody stock trader Keith Gill.
The hijackers’ messages appear more legitimate because Microsoft India’s X account has a gold check on the platform indicating that it is an officially verified entity.
Threat actors use Gill’s recent return as cover to entice unsuspecting targets and infect them with malware that drains cryptocurrency wallets.
