Following a cybersecurity incident that was detected last month, in which threat actors acquired sensitive customer data, Nova Scotia Power has confirmed that it experienced a data breach.
One of Canada’s major utilities is Nova Scotia Power, a division of Emera Inc. With 95% of the market, it provides services to more than 500,000 residential, business, and industrial clients in Nova Scotia.
Every year, it produces more than 10,000 GWh of electricity, which is dispersed by a vast 32,000-kilometer (20,000-mile) power line network.
The organization revealed that it had found illegal access to specific areas of its network and servers that enable its operations on April 28, 2025.
