Citing national security concerns, the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) declared on Monday that all drones and essential parts manufactured abroad would be prohibited.
In accordance with the 2025 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), the government has expanded its Covered List to include all communications and video surveillance equipment and services, as well as unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and UAS key components manufactured abroad. This action will prevent drones manufactured in China, such those built by DJI and Autel Robotics, from being sold in the United States.
Drones have the potential to improve public safety and innovation, but terrorists, hostile foreign actors, and criminals can use them as weapons to pose a major threat to the United States, according to the FCC.
