Google’s Built-In AI Defenses on Android Now Block 10 Billion Scam Messages a Month

Google announced on Thursday that over 10 billion alleged fraudulent calls and messages are prevented each month by the scam defenses integrated into Android, protecting customers worldwide.

According to the IT giant, it has also prevented scams before they are even issued by blocking more than 100 million suspicious numbers from using Rich Communication Services (RCS), an advancement of the SMS protocol.

The business has implemented a number of measures in recent years to prevent phone frauds, including automatically filtering known spam using on-device artificial intelligence and moving it to the “spam & blocked” folder in the Google Messages app for Android.
