New PIXHELL Attack Exploits LCD Screen Noise to Exfiltrate Data from Air-Gapped Computers

A novel side-channel attack known as PIXHELL has the potential to penetrate air-gapped computers by exploiting the "audio gap" to obtain confidential data by utilizing the noise produced by LCD screen pixels. In a recently published paper, Dr. Mordechai Guri, the head of the Offensive Cyber Research Lab in the Department of Software and Information Systems Engineering at the Ben Gurion University of the Negev in Israel, stated that malware in the air-gap and audio-gap computers generates crafted pixel patterns that produce noise in the frequency range of 0 - 22 kHz.
