Chinese Hackers Infiltrate South American Diplomatic Networks
The ShadowPad remote access Trojan (RAT), often referred to as PoisonPlug, has been observed being used by the state-sponsored threat actor DEV-0147 from China to attack diplomatic institutions in South America.
On Monday, Microsoft announced the findings on Twitter, noting that the threat actor's latest effort marks a significant expansion of the group's data exfiltration operations, which previously targeted government organizations and think tanks in Asia and Europe.
