Apple Blocks $9 Billion in Fraud Over 5 Years Amid Rising App Store Threats
In the past five years, Apple has stopped over $9 billion in fraudulent transactions, including over $2 billion in 2024 alone, the company announced on Tuesday.
According to the firm, the App Store faces numerous threats that aim to mislead consumers in different ways, from fraudulent payment schemes that try to take advantage of customers to deceptive programs that steal personal information.
In an attempt to stop dishonest developers from submitting their products to the App Store, the tech giant said it denied the registration of an additional 139,000 developers and deleted over 46,000 developer accounts due to fraud concerns.
