Apple account change alerts abused to send phishing emails
In order to increase validity and possibly get beyond spam filters, Apple account change alerts are being misused to send phishing schemes that pretend to be iPhone purchases within genuine emails issued from Apple's servers.
An email that seemed to be a typical Apple security alert informing the reader that their account details had been changed was shared with BleepingComputer.
Nevertheless, a phishing lure that claimed a $899 iPhone purchase had been made through PayPal was included in the message, along with a phone number to call in order to reverse the transaction.
The Apple account phishing email states, "Dear User, 899 USD iPhone Purchase Via Pay-Pal To Cancel 18023530761."
