U.S. DOJ Charges 54 in ATM Jackpotting Scheme Using Ploutus Malware
This week, the U.S. Department of Justice (DoJ) stated that 54 people have been charged in relation to an ATM jackpotting fraud worth millions of dollars.
In order to force automated teller machines (ATMs) around the United States to distribute cash, a large-scale conspiracy used malware called Ploutus. The members of Tren de Aragua (TdA, Spanish for "the train of Aragua"), a Venezuelan gang that the U.S. State Department has classified as a foreign terrorist organization, are allegedly involved in the indictment.
