U.S. Bans Chinese Telecom Equipment and Surveillance Cameras Over National Security Risk

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) of the United States formally declared that it will no longer approve electronic products made by Huawei, ZTE, Hytera, Hikvision, and Dahua because they pose a "unacceptable" threat to national security. As of March 12, 2021, each of these Chinese telecom and security firms was previously on the Covered List. According to FCC Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel, "The FCC is dedicated to preserving our national security by ensuring that unreliable communications equipment is not permitted for use within our borders, and we are continuing that work here."
