US cities warn of wave of unpaid parking phishing texts
Cities in the United States are alerting citizens about a persistent mobile phishing campaign that poses as SMS from the city's parking infraction departments regarding unpaid parking charges. Failure to pay these invoices will result in a daily punishment of $35.
Parking scams have been around for years, but Annapolis, Boston, Greenwich, Denver, Detroit, Houston, Milwaukee, Salt Lake City, Charlotte, San Diego, San Francisco, and many other cities in the United States have issued warnings due to a massive wave of phishing text messages.
