Yesterday, a new security agency started doing its task of defending the UK against threats from terrorist organisations and states. The Integrated Review Refresh, a significant new evaluation of government defence spending, included the creation of the National Preventive Security Authority (NPSA). Many US government organizations and nonprofits have issued warnings to people about Valentine's Day-related romance scams. Over the past week, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has warned residents of Texas and New Mexico about these crime attempts in two different statements. The Computer Emergency Response Team of Ukraine (CERT-UA) has issued a warning about potential cyberattacks against Ukrainian governmental institutions using the approved remote access program Remcos. The agency has identified the threat actor behind the widespread phishing campaign as UAC-0050 and based on the toolset used, they believe the action was probably spied-related. The fake emails that begin the infection chain contain a fake RAR archive and purport to be from the Ukrainian telecom business Ukrtelecom. Encrypted Messaging App Exclu Used by Criminal Groups Cracked by Joint Law Enforcement

Exclu, an encrypted communications program used by organized crime gangs, has been decrypted by a collaborative law enforcement effort by Germany, the Netherlands, and Poland. In a press release, Eurojust stated that the operation on February 3 led to the detention of 45 people in Belgium and the Netherlands, some of them were users as well as the service's administrators and proprietors. Authorities also conducted 79 raids, which resulted in the confiscation of 200 phones, 300,000 ecstasy tablets, €5.5 million in cash, and 20 guns. Two other drug labs have been closed.
