Hackers Exploit Misconfigured Jupyter Notebooks with Repurposed Minecraft DDoS Tool

Details of a new distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) assault campaign that targets improperly configured Jupyter Notebooks have been revealed by cybersecurity experts. The activity, which cloud security company Aqua has named Panamorfi, uses a Java-based program called mineping to initiate a DDoS attack against TCP flooding. A DDoS package called mineping is intended for Minecraft gaming servers. Attack chains involve using Jupyter Notebook instances that are open to the internet to execute wget commands to retrieve a ZIP archive that is hosted on Filebin, a file-sharing website. Many US government organizations and nonprofits have issued warnings to people about Valentine's Day-related romance scams. Over the past week, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has warned residents of Texas and New Mexico about these crime attempts in two different statements.
