North Korean Hackers Lure Defense Engineers With Fake Jobs to Steal Drone Secrets
As part of a long-running campaign known as Operation Dream Job, threat actors with ties to North Korea have been implicated in a recent wave of attacks against European military industry companies.
In a report shared with The Hacker News, ESET security researchers Peter Kálnai and Alexis Rapin stated that some of these [companies] have a significant presence in the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) industry, indicating that the operation might be connected to North Korea's ongoing attempts to expand its drone program.
It is estimated that the campaign's ultimate objective is to use malware families like ScoringMathTea and MISTPEN to steal confidential data and industrial expertise. The campaign began in late March 2025, according to the Slovak cybersecurity firm.
