E-Root Marketplace Admin Sentenced to 42 Months for Selling 350K Stolen Credentials
The Department of Justice (DoJ) reported that a 31-year-old citizen of Moldova has been sentenced to 42 months in jail for running an illegal marketplace named E-Root Marketplace that sold hundreds of thousands of compromised credentials.
Sandu Boris Diaconu was accused of possessing at least fifteen unauthorized access devices and conspiring to commit computer fraud and access device theft. One December 1, 2023, he entered a guilty plea.
According to the DoJ last week, the E-Root Marketplace operated across a widely dispersed network and took precautions to conceal the names of its administrators, buyers, and dealers.
