Gamers Tricked Into Downloading Lua-Based Malware via Fake Cheating Script Engines
A Lua-based malware that can install itself on compromised devices and deliver more payloads is being lured into installing by users looking for gaming cheats.
According to a recent analysis published today by Morphisec researcher Shmuel Uzan, these attacks take advantage of the popularity of Lua gaming engine supplements among student gamers. He also noted that this particular malware strain is widely distributed throughout North America, South America, Europe, Asia, and even Australia.
