N. Korean Hackers Use Fake Interviews to Infect Developers with Cross-Platform Malware
North Korean-affiliated threat actors have been seen delivering upgraded variants of recognized malware families, such as BeaverTail and InvisibleFerret, to job seekers in the tech sector.
The activity cluster, identified by the tracking number CL-STA-0240, is a component of the Contagious Interview campaign, which Palo Alto Networks Unit 42 initially revealed in November of 2023.
According to a recent report from Unit 42, the threat actor responsible for CL-STA-0240 poses as a potential employer in order to get in touch with software engineers via job search networks.
