FBI warns of cybercriminals using fake FBI crime reporting portals
In what the law enforcement agency described as potentially hostile activity, the FBI issued a warning today about cybercriminals spoofing its Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) website.
The FBI stated that such spoof websites might be used by attackers to steal users' personal information or to commit financial frauds, but it did not provide any examples or identify particular assaults.
According to the FBI, threat actors frequently create spoof websites by subtly changing features of authentic website domains in order to collect personally identifiable information that users enter into the site, such as name, home address, phone number, email address, and banking information.
