FunkSec Ransomware Decryptor Released Free to Public After Group Goes Dormant
A decryptor for the FunkSec ransomware strain has been made available by cybersecurity specialists, giving sufferers free access to their files again.
We made the decryptor available for public download since the ransomware is now deemed to be dead, according to researcher Ladislav Zezula of Gen Digital.
Ransomware.live reports that FunkSec, which first surfaced at the end of 2024, has 172 victims. The top three industries the group targets are technology, government, and education, and the great majority of the targeted entities are found in the United States, India, and Brazil.
