Apple’s New macOS Sequoia Tightens Gatekeeper Controls to Block Unauthorized Software
On Tuesday, Apple revealed a change to its upcoming macOS release that slightly increases the difficulty of users overriding Gatekeeper security measures.
MacOS has Gatekeeper, an essential security feature that makes sure the operating system only allows trusted apps to operate. An application confirms that it is from a recognized developer when it is downloaded from a location other than the App Store and opened for the first time.
In order to prevent malware from being installed on macOS systems, it also performs tests to make sure the app is notarized. Moreover, before permitting the use of any such third-party app, the user must give their consent.
