Indian Court Orders Action to Block Proton Mail Over AI Deepfake Abuse Allegations
Proton Mail, an end-to-end encrypted email company, has been ordered to be blocked nationwide by a high court in the Indian state of Karnataka.
On April 29, the Karnataka High Court stated that the decision was in response to a lawsuit that M Moser Design Associated India Pvt Ltd had brought in January 2025.
According to LiveLaw, the complaint claimed that its employees had been sent emails that contained sexually explicit information, deepfake images produced by artificial intelligence (AI), and foul, rude, and filthy language.
