Italy’s Privacy Watchdog Blocks ChatGPT Amid Privacy Concerns
The use of the artificial intelligence (AI) service ChatGPT in Italy has been temporarily halted by the Italian Data Protection Authority (Garante for la protezione dei dati personali).
The privacy authority launched an investigation into OpenAI's chatbot and suspended usage of the service after receiving complaints that it did not adhere to Italian data-collecting laws. The Garante asserted that OpenAI had not taken enough precautions to bar users under the age of 13 from utilizing ChatGPT.
