According to the U.K. National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), threat actors have used zero-day assaults to distribute malware families including RayInitiator and LINE VIPER that were previously unknown by taking advantage of recently discovered security weaknesses affecting Cisco firewalls. According to the CIA, the RayInitiator and LINE VIPER malware are a major advancement over the one utilized in the prior campaign in terms of both sophistication and detection evasion.
