Lotus Panda Hacks SE Asian Governments With Browser Stealers and Sideloaded Malware
Between August 2024 and February 2025, a campaign that hacked several organizations in an unidentified Southeast Asian nation was attributed to the China-affiliated cyber espionage group known as Lotus Panda.
According to the Symantec Threat Hunter Team's latest report, which was shared with The Hacker News, targets included a construction company, a telecom operator, an air traffic control organization, and a government ministry. Several new specialized tools, such as loaders, credential stealers, and a reverse SSH tool, were used in the attacks.
