Spain arrests 34 suspects linked to Black Axe cyber crime
Authorities in Spain have detained 34 people who are reportedly related to the Black Axe gang, which is responsible for illegal actions throughout Europe, and who are part of a criminal network engaged in computer fraud.
The Bavarian State Criminal Police Office and Europol provided assistance in carrying out the operation.
The police froze €119,350 in bank accounts and confiscated €66,400 in cash, electronics, and cars during raids in Seville, Madrid, Malaga, and Barcelona.
Nigerian-born members of the Black Axe gang, which specialized in "man-in-the-middle" frauds such business email compromise (BEC), commanded the Spanish cybercrime ring.
