Matrix Botnet Exploits IoT Devices in Widespread DDoS Botnet Campaign
A distributed denial-of-service (DoD) operation that exploits flaws and configurations in Internet of Things (IoT) devices to co-opt them into a disruptive botnet has been connected to a threat actor called Matrix.
According to Assaf Morag, director of threat intelligence at cloud security company Aqua, this operation demonstrates a do-it-yourself approach to cyberattacks by acting as a comprehensive one-stop shop for scanning, exploiting vulnerabilities, spreading malware, and setting up shop kits.
