Microsoft Launches Project Ire to Autonomously Classify Malware Using AI Tools

In an attempt to improve malware detection efforts, Microsoft on Tuesday unveiled an autonomous artificial intelligence (AI) agent that can evaluate and categorize software without help. The IT giant has given the autonomous malware categorization system, which is presently a prototype, the codename Project Ire. It is powered by a large language model (LLM). According to Microsoft, the technology automates what is regarded as the gold standard in malware classification: completely reverse engineering a software file without revealing any information about its source or intent.
