Europol Shuts Down Major Phishing Scheme Targeting Mobile Phone Credentials
The dismantling of a global criminal network that used a phishing platform to unlock lost or stolen mobile phones has been announced by law enforcement authorities.
More than 483,000 people are thought to have fallen victim to the phishing-as-a-service (PhaaS) platform known as iServer worldwide, with Chile (77,000), Colombia (70,000), Ecuador (42,000), Peru (41,500), Spain (30,000), and Argentina (29,000) accounting for the majority of these victims.
According to a press release from Europol, the victims are primarily citizens of European, North American, and South American nations who speak Spanish.
