New botnet malware exploits two zero-days to infect NVRs and routers

Two zero-day vulnerabilities in remote code execution (RCE) have been used by a new malware botnet dubbed "InfectedSlurs" to infect routers and network video recorders (NVRs). The devices are taken over by the malware and added to its DDoS (distributed denial of service) swarm, which is likely rented out for financial gain. 'InfectedSlurs' was first discovered by Akamai on its honeypots in late October 2023. On the other hand, the botnet started operating in late 2022.
