New Linux Malware Campaign Exploits Oracle Weblogic to Mine Cryptocurrency
Researchers studying cybersecurity have discovered a new malware operation that targets Linux installations in an attempt to spread botnet malware and mine cryptocurrencies illegally.
The purpose of the operation, according to cloud security company Aqua, is to distribute a malware strain known as Hadooken. It targets the Oracle Weblogic server particularly.
Security researcher Assaf Moran stated, "Hadooken drops a Tsunami malware and deploys a crypto miner when it is executed."
