Phantom Taurus New China-Linked Hacker Group Hits Governments With Stealth Malware
Over the past two and a half years, a hitherto unreported China-aligned nation-state actor known as Phantom Taurus has targeted government and telecoms institutions in Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.
According to researcher Lior Rochberger of Palo Alto Networks Unit 42, Phantom Taurus' primary emphasis areas are military activities, embassies, ministries of foreign affairs, and geopolitical events. Espionage is the group's main goal. It exhibits stealth, perseverance, and the capacity to swiftly modify its tactics, methods, and procedures (TTPs) in its attacks.
