Robocallers posing as FCC fraud prevention team call FCC staff

For allegedly permitting consumers to place robocalls under the guise of a fake FCC "Fraud Prevention Team," the FCC has proposed a $4,492,500 fine against VoIP service provider Telnyx for violating Know Your Customer (KYC) regulations. Telnyx, however, disputes the charges and claims the FCC is wrong. The callers created Telnyx accounts under the names "Christian Mitchell" and "Henry Walker" with Scottish and English IP addresses and the same address in Toronto, Canada. Because they both utilized email addresses on the same mariocop123.com domain, they are referred to as "MarioCop" accounts.
