Wyden proposes bill to secure US telecoms after Salt Typhoon hacks
A new bill to protect American telecom businesses' networks that were compromised earlier this year by Salt Typhoon Chinese state hackers was unveiled by U.S. Senator Ron Wyden of Oregon.
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) will be required by Wyden's Secure American Communications Act to establish legally binding cybersecurity regulations and execute the security standards that have been mandated since 1994 by laws that direct telecom providers to protect their wireless and phone networks from intrusions.
