Chinese PostalFurious Target UAE Users with Sneaky SMS Phishing Scheme
According to Group-IB, a new SMS campaign that targets customers in the United Arab Emirates by impersonating postal services and toll operators has been connected to a Chinese-speaking phishing group known as PostalFurious.
The deceptive method involves sending consumers phoney text messages that demand they pay a vehicle trip cost in order to avoid further fines. To mask the real phishing link, the messages also include a shortened URL.
