New RAMBO Attack Uses RAM Radio Signals to Steal Data from Air-Gapped Networks
An innovative side-channel attack has been discovered that exploits radio signals emitted by a random access memory (RAM) device to exfiltrate data, endangering networks that are separated by air.
Dr. Mordechai Guri, who heads the Offensive Cyber Research Lab at the Department of Software and Information Systems Engineering at Ben Gurion University of the Negev in Israel, has given the technique the codename RAMBO.
In a recently released research article, Dr. Guri stated that malware can encode sensitive data, including files, photos, keylogging, biometric data, and encryption keys, using software-generated radio waves.
