DOJ seizes CFAKE, SOCFAKE deepfake nude sites under TAKE IT DOWN Act
In what appears to be the first publicly reported domain seizure under the TAKE IT DOWN Act, the U.S. Department of Justice said on Friday that it had taken down the domains CFAKE.com and SOCFAKE.com, which purportedly hosted nonconsensual AI-generated nude photographs and videos of women.
The DOJ claims that the websites disseminated deepfakes—sexually explicit digital images—of politicians, celebrities, athletes, entertainers, and even royalty from several nations.
