U.S. Congressional Budget Office hit by suspected foreign cyberattack
The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) of the United States has confirmed that it experienced a cybersecurity incident due to a suspected foreign hacker breaching its network and possibly disclosing sensitive data.
CBO spokesman Caitlin Emma confirmed the "security incident" and claimed the agency moved swiftly to contain it in a statement provided to BleepingComputer.
Emma told BleepingComputer that the Congressional Budget Office has recognized the security breach, acted quickly to limit it, and added new security controls and monitoring to help safeguard the organization's systems moving forward.
