US sanctions Russian hacktivists who breached water facilities
Two Russian cybercriminals have been sanctioned by the US authorities for their cyberattacks that targeted vital infrastructure.
The two individuals under sanctions are Yuliya Vladimirovna Pankratova and Denis Olegovich Degtyarenko, who are both important members of the hacktivist group Cyber Army of Russia Reborn (CARR), which is connected with Russia, according to a press release from the US Treasury.
Pankratova, also known as "YuliYA" on the internet, is purportedly the head of CARR, overseeing the threat group's operations and serving as their public face.
