XE Hacker Group Exploits VeraCore Zero-Day to Deploy Persistent Web Shells
Threat actors have been seen utilizing a number of security holes in different software programs, such as Advantive VeraCore and Progress Telerik UI for ASP.NET AJAX, to drop web shells and reverse shells and keep continuous remote access to vulnerable computers.
It has been determined that the threat actor XE Group, a cybercrime organization that is probably Vietnamese in origin and has been operating since at least 2010, is responsible for the zero-day exploitation of security vulnerabilities in VeraCore.
