Washington Post’s email system hacked, journalists’ accounts compromised
A cyberattack allegedly orchestrated by a foreign government compromised the email accounts of multiple Washington Post journalists.
The magazine launched an investigation after learning about the event on Thursday night. Employees received an internal note alerting them to a "possible targeted unauthorized intrusion into their email system" on Sunday, June 15.
The Wall Street Journal claims that Executive Editor Matt Murray signed the memo, which stated that only a small number of journalists' Microsoft accounts were impacted. One of the most important newspapers in the US is The Washington Post, which is owned by Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon.
