Meta Blocks NSO Group’s New WhatsApp Phishing Attack, Files Contempt Order
On Monday, Meta announced that it has identified and stopped spear-phishing attempts connected to the Israeli spyware company NSO Group.
The tech giant also said that it is requesting a contempt order from a federal court for the company's violation of a permanent injunction that prohibited it from targeting WhatsApp and its users.Similar to past documented 1-click phishing attempts connected to NSO, they attempted to fool users into clicking on malicious links to take them to websites outside of WhatsApp, according to Meta.
Additionally, the social media corporation claimed to have discovered NSO Group setting up test groups and users on WhatsApp. Since then, Meta has eliminated them. The following is a list of malicious domains connected to the activity:
