Chinese APT Gelsemium Targets Linux Systems with New WolfsBane Backdoor
As part of cyberattacks that are probably aimed against East and Southeast Asia, the China-aligned advanced persistent threat (APT) actor Gelsemium has been seen utilizing a brand-new Linux backdoor called WolfsBane.
Based on many Linux samples that were posted to the VirusTotal platform in March 2023 from Taiwan, the Philippines, and Singapore, antivirus firm ESET came to that conclusion.
The threat actor's Gelsevirine backdoor, a Windows malware used as early as 2014, has been evaluated to be a Linux variant of WolfsBane.
