Coinbase confirms insider breach linked to leaked support tool screenshots

After a contractor unlawfully accessed the data of about thirty clients, Coinbase admitted an insider breach. BleepingComputer has uncovered that this is a recent occurrence that happened in December.

A Coinbase representative told BleepingComputer that our security team discovered last year that a single Coinbase contractor had unlawfully accessed customer data, affecting a relatively limited number of customers (around 30).

The person is no longer employed by Coinbase. We informed the affected users last year, and they received advice and identity theft protection services. As is customary, we have also informed the appropriate authorities about this event.
