Data of 237k US government employees breached

According to officials briefed on the situation on Friday, a data breach at the US Transportation Department (USDOT) exposed the personal data of 237,000 current and past federal employees.

The compromise affected systems for processing TRANServe transit benefits, which pay some commuting expenses for government workers. It was unclear whether any of the personal data had been utilised illegally.
