AudiA6, a bitcoin laundering service utilized by ransomware gangs and cybercriminal networks, has been blocked by European authorities.
In a statement released on Thursday, Europol said that the AudiA6’s disassembly ended a “key financial pipeline used to wash hundreds of millions in illicit profits.” Since its introduction in 2021, the service is thought to have been used to launder around €336 million (~$389 million).
The agency noted that ransomware actors and cybercriminals looking to pay out stolen digital assets while concealing the money trail from authorities turned to the platform as a central point.
The operators of AudiA6 are also accused of running Dark2Web, a dark web cybercrime forum where criminals linked with other threat actors worldwide and marketed illegal services.
