Distributed denial of service (DDoS)-for-hire services that were used to initiate hundreds of cyberattacks worldwide have been shut down, according to Europol.
As part of the operation, the United States has seized nine domains linked to the now-defunct websites, and Polish officials have arrested four people between the ages of 19 and 22.
According to a statement from Europol, the suspects are thought to be responsible for six distinct stresser/booter services that allowed paying users to overload servers and websites with harmful data, taking them offline for as little as EUR 10.
