Americans were cautioned by the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) not to use mobile applications built abroad, especially those made by Chinese developers.
The FBI cautioned about the privacy and data security threats connected to these apps in a public service announcement (PSA) released this Tuesday via its Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) platform.
The FBI cautioned that as of early 2026, many of the top-grossing and most downloaded apps in the US are created and maintained by foreign businesses, especially those with headquarters in China.
