Malicious advertising, or “malvertising,” has been aimed against the Google search engine for years. Here, threat actors post advertisements pretending to be well-known software websites, with the goal of infecting users’ computers with malware.
Worse, threat actors can now produce Google search ads that display authentic domains, lending credibility to the advertisement.
