Several threat actors with ties to Russia have been seen using the privacy-focused messaging app Signal to target people of interest in order to obtain illegal access to their accounts.
The misuse of Signal’s legitimate ‘connected devices’ functionality, which allows Signal to be used on several devices simultaneously, is the most innovative and popular method behind Russian-aligned attempts to hack Signal accounts, according to a report by the Google Threat Intelligence Group (GTIG).
