Researchers studying cybersecurity have discovered a new, more covert variant of Banshee Stealer, an information-stealing malware specifically designed for macOS.
In a recent research shared with The Hacker News, Check Point Research stated that this new version, which was previously believed to be dormant following its source code breach in late 2024, features powerful string encryption modeled after Apple’s XProtect. Over 100 million macOS users worldwide are at serious risk as a result of this advancement, which enables it to evade antivirus software.
